Communicating Student Learning
Full Credit Courses
Reporting progress to parents and students:
- Interim report cards (Learning Updates) will be published to the MyEdBC Parent Portal midway through the course. Please check with your Summer Learning teacher for this year's Interim Reporting date.
- Final report cards (Summary of Learning) will be published to the MyEdBC Parent Portal on the first business day after the last day of Full Credit classes.
- If your regular school is outside the North Vancouver School District and does not use MYEdBC or the MyEdBC parent portal, you can arrange to receive a hard copy report card.
Reporting marks to home schools (School of Record) and the BC Ministry of Education:
- Each student's School of Record is sent a copy of the student's Summary of Learning, including a final mark and comments, prior to September.
- NVSD schools also receive a spreadsheet of all final marks received in Summer Learning. NVSD students entering grades 10 - 12 who have completed a Summer Learning course that will change their course selection for September should contact their school grade counsellor in the two weeks prior to the first day of the regular school year.
- Final marks from Summer Learning courses are submitted to the BC Ministry of Education by the student's School of Record in the fall. Summer Learning courses and marks will not show on a student's Ministry of Education Transcript until this process has been completed.
- Grade 12 students are an exception to this process: their final marks will be submitted directly to the Ministry of Education by the Summer Learning office in early August.
Report card comments will include:
-
Evidence of what the student understands, knows, and can do
-
Descriptive feedback outlining next steps for student learning: 'A recipe for future success'
-
Anecdotal comments about student engagement and/or behaviour
