Dates, times, and location information
Literacy 8/9 focuses on curricular and core competencies. It is not a review of English 8 or 9; and not a preview course for Grade 7 students. English Language Learning (ELL) students should refer to the Summer Learning ELL course.
This course is available for students who meet the following criteria:
- Have taken English Language Arts 8 or 9, but their competency is Emerging or Developing
- Need to build core skills and foundational knowledge
- Would benefit from additional teacher support and direct instruction to develop literacy skills and knowledge
This course is tailored to meet individual student needs, target gaps in learning, and provide extra support to develop reflective and engaged learners. Students are assessed on the first day of class, then grouped by skill level.
Students completing Grade 8 this year must register for Literacy 8.
Students completing Grade 9 this year must register for Literacy 9.
If you register for the wrong course, your registration will be void.
Daily attendance is mandatory.
Families are encouraged to register early, as space is limited and fills up quickly.
