Grade 7/8 Transition Courses

All Grade 7/8 Transition courses are non-credit courses designed to provide a boost for students who have just completed Grade 7 and may be hesitant about the transition to secondary school. Transition courses provide students with an opportunity for a more measured orientation into a secondary setting. Students will build on their existing skills to help support successful outcomes in Grade 8 and beyond.

  • Similar to 7 to 8 Transition - build familiarity, develop Core Competencies, acquire skills, and gain confidence - in a French Immersion setting
  • Additional emphasis on French language development through tasks and practise of writing, reading, and oral language skills

Grade 7/8 English Language Learners (ELL) Transition 7
  • For Gr 7 ELL students with Beginning, Developing, or Expanding learning outcomes
  • Enhance English language skills to support greater success in secondary school

Grade 7/8 International Baccalaureate (IB) Transition 7, in Carson Graham Family of Schools
  • For students who are currently attending Braemar, Capilano, Carisbrooke, Larson, Norgate, Queen Mary, or Westview Elementary schools and who are planning to attend Carson Graham Secondary school
  • Gain exposure to the IB Middle Years Program curriculum, such as the IB Learner Profile, Key Concepts, Approaches to Learning Skills, and criterion-based assessment
